Our Difference

Surrounded by beauty our soul grows

Living Spaces

Our environments have been designed to reflect the comfort, cosiness and familiarity of living spaces in a home.  That is why we call our ‘classrooms’ Living Spaces. We have incorporated the principles of biophilic design – the design of nature – to bring our spaces to life. From the flooding of natural light, the co-habitation with living plants, the use of earthy materials, and the views of the greenspace around us, everything has been designed to optimise the wellbeing of the children and adults who spend their time in the space every day. Our spaces truly are a ‘home away from home’ for our families.

HomePod

We have sought to make ‘big’ small again while returning to the essence of our family make up. Instead of having children separated by age, we have created ‘HomePods.’ These are small home-like environments where children from 0-6 spend their days together.  This unique concept allows babies and their siblings to be enrolled in the same Living Space for their entire time with us, without transitioning between rooms or forcing separation of adult relationships. We prioritise secure relationships as the foundation for all learning, and enrolling in our HomePod means that you and your child will be in the same, small village community the entire time you are with us.

Natural Connections

Our unique setting is surrounded by greenspace, mountains and reserves. This creates the backdrop for our naturally landscaped playground…or ‘garden’ as we like to call it. This forms part of our wider, wilder plan of reconnecting ourselves to our natural habitats. Our vision is to work together to give children the opportunity to spend extended time in the local forest. We believe that we protect what we fall in love with, and this is the invitation we give to families to fall in love with Papatūānuku.

Mauri Aroha

We acknowledge the power, insight and strength that our indigenous culture gives us in Aotearoa. We live in a multicultural society with a foundation in bicultural world view. We are privileged to have a strong network of support actively guiding us to see our world through the Te Ao Māori lens. Mauri Aroha – speaks of the essence and life force of love. We believe this to be our guiding compass.

Atelier - Creative Studio

We believe that children express their thoughts, feelings, and curiosities in many different ways – through singing, drawing, creating with clay, constructing with different materials, role playing with friends, and many others – we call each of these expressions a different ‘language’.  Our facility has a dedicated ‘Art Studio’ where we provide many different languages for the children to express themselves. This special space at the heart of our Village is where many ideas come to life!

Village Wellness Space

It takes a village to raise a child – we know that the wellbeing of the child is interdependent on the wellbeing of the whãnau. That is why we have a special Village wellness studio where we want to offer all sorts of workshops and community connection events for whanau and kaiako.
