Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all

Teacher:Child Ratio

Each HomePod (with 24 children) will be staffed by 5 teachers and cater for up to 8 under 2’s. This will ensure that we continually operate with better ratios than what is required by the Ministry of Education. Addition to this we will support HomePod teachers with support from specialist teachers as the needs arise.

Opening Hours/Sessions

7.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

We are closed on all public and statutory holidays

Woven throughout every decision we make is the balance of community needs and staff wellbeing. The role of an Early Childhood Kaiako (teacher) is demanding and requires a tremendous amount of energy. Many of our Kaiako work 8 hour shifts and this is balanced with our need to roster for the extended (10 hours) we open every day. We have found that having opening hours of 7.30am-5.30pm strikes a good balance for the entire Village – helping us achieve one of our core goals of nurturing a sustainable environment of well-being for tamariki, Kaiako and whãnau .

In order to meet the flexible needs of our community we provide a shorter day enrolment (8.30am-3.30pm) and an all day enrolment (7.30am-5.30pm).

What do I do if I require care outside of these hours?

We believe in fostering strong relationships among our community to create a village of support. We will be actively involved in supporting whãnau to connect with one another so there are support for those who may need their child picked up or taken to daycare due to work commitments.

Minimum days of enrolment

We require a three-day minimum enrolment per week for children to be part of the Village. Any request for less days will be reviewed with discretion. The reason and process for this is explained below.

We have designed the entire Village  philosophy around the pillars of positive, authentic, and continuous relationship, alongside the reduction of complexity within the Village. We achieve this through our HomePod model and continue this lens through every decision we make. Through our experience it requires 3 consistent days per week for your child to settle into routine and develop a sense of safety within the environment. This is the foundation for them to then explore, play and wonder with joy.

We do understand that it can be a difficult decision to put your child in the care of others for the first time. Three days may seem like a significant commitment – especially if your child is under the age of two. We do want to work with individual families during the initial settling process and there may be limited capacity to accept an enrolment for 2 days initially with the view of moving to three days per week in the future.

Our Fees

In setting our fees we have given great consideration too ensuring we meet the needs of the community while ensuring the vision for an exceptional place for our tamariki and whãnau are sustainable. These fees will be reviewed on the 1st of April every year to ensure the ongoing quality of experience for kaiako.

All fees are GST inclusive and are subject to change from time to time.

You can enrol as a ‘short day’ (8.30am-3.30pm)  or a ‘long day’ (7.30am-5.30pm)

20 Hours ECE

Our Centre offers the 20 Hours ECE subsidy which is provided by the Ministry of Education to all 3-, 4- and 5-year-old children. The cost of your 3 – 5-year-old attending our Centre can be subsidised for a maximum of 6 hours per day for 20 hours per week. These subsidies have already been considered in our fee structure above.
